Safeguarding at The Oaks Community Primary
At The Oaks Community Primary, the safety and well-being of our pupils are our highest priorities. We are committed to creating a nurturing and secure environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that all students feel safe, valued, and supported.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our staff are trained to recognise and respond to signs of abuse or neglect, fostering a culture of vigilance and care. We work in close partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to protect our pupils and promote their welfare.
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)
To ensure a consistent and effective approach to safeguarding, The Oaks Community Primary has dedicated Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs):
- Liz Brackley – Designated Safeguarding Lead
- David Wearing – Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Lindsey Trafford-Haigh – Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Mrs Susan Walters – Safeguarding Governor
Liz Brackley and David Wearing are available to provide guidance, support, and intervention when safeguarding concerns arise. They are trained to manage any safeguarding issues and ensure that appropriate actions are taken promptly.
Creating a Safe Environment
We have comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures in place, which are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and statutory requirements. These policies cover a range of safeguarding aspects, including:
- Child protection
- Online safety
- Anti-bullying
- Health and safety
- Preventing radicalisation
Our staff undergo regular training to stay informed about the latest safeguarding guidance, ensuring they are equipped to protect our pupils effectively.
Working Together
Safeguarding is most effective when schools, families, and the wider community work together. We encourage parents and carers to communicate any concerns they may have about a child’s well-being. If you have any worries, please do not hesitate to contact Liz Bracklet or David Wearing for support and guidance.
For more information, please refer to our safeguarding policies available on our website or contact the school office.
Together, we can provide a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for every child at The Oaks Community Primary.
