Why Attendance is Important
Regular attendance is essential for your child’s academic success and personal development. Attending school every day and on time helps children build strong learning habits, form friendships, and make the most of educational opportunities.
Supporting Positive Attendance
We believe in working together with families to encourage good attendance. By fostering positive relationships and open communication, we aim to support your child’s consistent school attendance.
How You Can Help:
- Set consistent bedtime and morning routines.
- Prepare school bags and uniforms the night before.
- Encourage your child about the importance of attending school.
- Communicate promptly with the school about any absences.
Reporting Absences
If your child is unwell or unable to attend:
- Contact the school on the first morning of absence with a reason.
- Keep us updated for extended absences.
- Provide medical evidence if requested.
Understanding Absence Decisions
Only the Headteacher can authorise absences. Acceptable reasons include illness, bereavement, religious observance, or exceptional circumstances. Unacceptable reasons include holidays, birthdays, and tiredness.
Punctuality Counts!
Being on time maximises learning. School starts at 8:40 am. Regular lateness disrupts learning and can lead to missed opportunities. We encourage morning routines that support punctuality.
Working Together to Improve Attendance
If attendance begins to decline, we will:
- Reach out with a supportive conversation to understand any challenges.
- Offer guidance and strategies to help improve attendance.
- Arrange meetings if necessary to collaborate on solutions.
Leave of Absence
Please plan holidays outside of term time. Leave can only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Speak with us in advance to discuss any requests.
